Field Trip Docent Training Series

Train to become a docent for AFC’s field trip program! Learn about native plant uses and adaptations, local geology, and support this free environmental education program that helps bring students out to our beautiful foothills!

Docents must attend the full series and be available to lead at least four (4) trips each school year. Trips take place Wednesday-Friday mornings during the school year.

Learn about our local geology from expert Doug Given. AFC’s geology training covers a wide variety of concepts from plate tectonics to watersheds to the rock cycle.

Learn about our regional native plants from AFC Land Manager Tim Martinez. AFC’s native plant training covers identifying plants, adaptations to our climate, and uses of plants by Indigenous communities.
