How much does a field trip cost?
Our field trips are free! Thanks to grant support for our field trip program from the Helen and Will Webster Family Foundation, we offer free transportation to and from our field trip locations.
How long do field trips typically last?
Our native plants and geology field trips at the Rosemont Preserve will generally last 1.5-2 hours. The service activities are usually 3-4 hours. These times may vary and can be discussed on an individual basis with the teacher prior to the field trip.
What should my students bring to the field trip?
Most important: bring water! Our field trips take place outside and involve some walking so water and sturdy shoes are necessary, and a hat is recommended. Our field trips at Rosemont end around lunchtime so you can bring lunch as well.
How many students and adults can attend a field trip?
We allow a maximum of 40 students. If there are more than 40 students, we can split the field trip into two separate days. We require at least one adult chaperone for every 10 students.
Where can we eat lunch after the field trip?
If you have booked a field trip to Rosemont, you can eat lunch at Two-Strike Park, which is just a short walk from the preserve.
What grade levels can attend the field trips?
At the Rosemont Preserve we have a STEM compliant 2nd/3rd grade plant curriculum and a 6th grade earth science curriculum. However, our field trip educational programs and service activities can be modified for all grade levels.
