DESCRIPTION:Join AFC and the Friends of Rubio Canyon for the annual Mustard Pulling Festival! \nMay’s restoration event at Rubio Canyon will be focused on removing pesky invasive plants — mainly mustards\, but tree tobacco as well. Help us remove these invasive species to ensure the native plants that support wildlife have ample room to thrive. \nPlease bring water\, sunscreen\, and work gloves. We recommend wearing pants\, long sleeves\, and sturdy shoes. If available\, feel free to bring any of the following tools: McLeod\, shovel\, bow rake\, pick mattock\, folding saw\, and loppers. Other tools and equipment will be available.⁠ \nVolunteers meet at the Loma Alta trailhead (1101 E. Loma Alta Drive).  Street parking is available. Please plan to arrive on time\, as the crew will depart shortly after the scheduled start time and may be difficult to locate once on the trail. SUMMARY:Millard Canyon Preserve Habitat Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a restoration day at AFC’s Millard Canyon Preserve! \nMillard Canyon is a beautiful sanctuary and corridor for wildlife: with a year-round stream and dense native tree canopy\, it provides thermal refuge and vital habitat in an area surrounded by development. Held on the second Saturday of each month\, restoration events are led by local resident and Meadows Fire Safe Council leader Bill Ramseyer. These workdays provide an opportunity to support habitat restoration and stewardship in the canyon while helping maintain it as a wildlife refuge. \nOur focus is on fire-fuel reduction\, cutting back invasive vegetation and reducing built-up dry material. If you have them\, please bring tools such as weed whackers\, pruners\, loppers\, or other hand tools suitable for cutting and clearing vegetation. \nVolunteers will meet at 9am at the hairpin turn on Canyon Crest Road in Altadena (map). Other tools and equipment will be available.⁠ \nVolunteers meet at 1966 Linda Vista Avenue\, Pasadena. Street parking available – please use caution when crossing Linda Vista as cars drive by quickly around the bend. \nRestoration is led by Tim Martinez.
