Other tools and equipment will be available.⁠ \nVolunteers meet at Rubio Canyon Trailhead at the corner of Pleasantridge Drive and Rubio Vista Road. Street parking is available. Please plan to arrive on time\, as the crew will depart shortly after the scheduled start time and may be difficult to locate once on the trail. Cell phone service in the area is limited. SUMMARY:Millard Canyon Preserve Habitat Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a restoration day at AFC’s Millard Canyon Preserve! \nMillard Canyon is an important sanctuary and corridor for animals\, with a the year-round stream and dense native tree canopy that offers shade and protection. Held on the second Saturday of each month\, restoration events are led by local resident and Meadows Fire Safe Council leader Bill Ramseyer. These workdays provide an opportunity to support habitat restoration and stewardship in the canyon while helping maintain it as a wildlife refuge. Our focus is on fire-fuel reduction\, including cutting back invasive vegetation and reducing built-up dry material. \nIf you have them\, please bring tools such as weed whackers\, pruners\, loppers\, or other hand tools suitable for cutting and clearing vegetation. \nVolunteers will meet at 9am at the hairpin turn on Canyon Crest Road in Altadena (map). Restoration tasks can range from removing invasive species\, planting native ones\, sheet mulching\, and more. \nPlease bring water\, sunscreen\, and work gloves. We recommend wearing pants\, long sleeves\, and sturdy shoes. If available\, feel free to bring any of the following tools: shovel\, loppers\, or trowel. Other tools and equipment will be available.⁠ \nVolunteers meet at 1966 Linda Vista Avenue\, Pasadena. Street parking available – please use caution when crossing Linda Vista as cars drive by quickly around the bend. Restoration is led by Tim Martinez.
