Native Plant Walk: Summer Dormancy
September 12 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am
Free
Have you ever wondered how Southern California’s native plants survive the long, dry summer months? Have you ever thought a plant looked a little dead, only to see it spring back to life when the winter rains arrived?
Join native plant expert and CNPS San Gabriel Mountains Chapter President Roger Klemm for a guided tour of Sunshine Preserve in Glendale as we delve into questions just like these. Learn about the unique ways our native plants live without rain for half of the year and discover how some manage to stay green—or even bloom—during the heat!
This event will include a short walk along the Las Flores Motorway Trail.
