AFC’s Summer Internship Program seeks to inspire the next generation of conservationists and environmental stewards. Our 8-week program provides hands-on experience in property stewardship, habitat restoration and conservation research. It also gives participating interns from area high schools and colleges a chance to teach others about the environment through AFC’s education programs.

Internship Learning Outcomes:

Interns can expect to gain knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Identifying common native & invasive plant species of Southern California
  • Habitat restoration
  • Trail work
  • Ethnobotany (how to use plants for food, medicine, survival skills, etc.)
  • Community outreach
  • Animal tracking & wildlife cameras
  • Local history

Internship Schedule:

  • June 15th – August 15
  • 4 hrs / day

Flexible schedule – work from home & in the field.  Providing your own transportation is highly encouraged.
